Targeted probe and educate
CMS has authorized First Coast to conduct reviews utilizing a targeted probe and educate (TPE) review process.
TPE is one process that a MAC can utilize when providers are selected by Medical Review. The TPE review process may include up to three rounds of a prepayment or post-payment probe review with education. If there are continued high denials after the first three rounds of reviews, First Coast will refer the provider and results to CMS.

First Coast Service Options (First Coast) strives to ensure that the information available on our provider website is accurate, detailed, and current. Therefore, this is a dynamic site and its content changes daily. It is best to access the site to ensure you have the most current information rather than printing articles or forms that may become obsolete without notice.
