FISS updates implemented October 2 require action from Part A providers

Updates to the Fiscal Intermediary Shared System (FISS) were implemented with CMS change request (CR) 13138 effective October 2.
The purpose of change request (CR) 13138 external pdf file was to identify and expand monetary amount fields relative to billing and payment within the Fiscal Intermediary Shared System (FISS) to accommodate 10-digits in length ($99,999,999.99).

First action required -- CICS MAP changes (FISS DDE)

FISS expansion of monetary amount fields on the following FISS DDE claim screens to accommodate 10-digit dollar amounts (or 11-digits when there are three places to the right of the decimal).
DDE screen, claim page 02 (MAP1712):
Expand the total units and covered unit fields to accommodate 10-digits, total charges, and non-covered charges to accommodate 11-digits dollar amounts, and the rate field to accommodate 13-digits. Also, expand the total charges and non-covered charges fields on the claim line with revenue code 0001 to accommodate 11-digits dollar amounts, and the total units and covered units to accommodate 10-digits.
DDE screen, claim page 02 (MAP171A):
Expand the total units and covered unit fields to accommodate 10-digits, total charge, patient paid, the service rate, labor amount, and non-labor amount fields to accommodate 11-digits dollar amounts. Also, claim page 02 (MAP171A) was expanded to 25 lines instead of 24.
DDE screen, claim page 02 (MAP171D):
Expand the covered units, non-covered units, and total non-covered units’ field to accommodate 10-digits, and the covered charges, non-covered charges, and total non-covered charges fields to accommodate 11-digits dollar amounts.
DDE Screen, Claim Page 03 (MAP1713):
Expand the estimate amount due and due from patient fields to accommodate 11-digits dollar amounts.
DDE Screen, Claim Page 03 (MAP1719):
Note: No FISS changes were made to DDE screen claim page 03 (MAP1719), as this screen currently displays the required 10-digits dollar amounts in the monetary amount fields.
DDE Screen, Claim Page 06 (MAP1716):
Expand the coinsurance field to accommodate 9-digit dollar amounts, expand the 'Paid by patient', 'GRH original reimbursement' and 'Tech provider charges' fields to accommodate 11-digit dollar amounts.
DDE Claim Summary Screen (MAP1741):
Expand the 'Total charge' field to accommodate 11-digits dollar amounts.

Second Action Required -- Session Emulator Instructions

From the eligibility detail inquiry screen 2 (MAP1751), press F8 to display eligibility screen 3 (MAP175J & MAP175M).
Expand the total units and covered units’ fields to accommodate 10-digits, total charge, patient paid, the service rate, labor amount, and non-labor amount fields to accommodate 11-digit dollar amounts. Also claim page 02 (MAP171A) was expanded to 25 lines instead of 24.
Part A Providers who utilize DDE to access the FISS, should verify their mainframe session emulator settings have a CICS screen dimension size of 43X80 in order to accommodate the newly expanded screens in the FISS per CMS CR13138. These changes will be implemented on October 2. The emulator change described below must be in place prior to October 2, otherwise, the modified DDE screens may not display correctly.

Instructions for the IBM Personal Communications mainframe session emulator

Follow these instructions for the IBM Personal Communications mainframe session emulator. Other products in use for mainframe session emulation may or may not be similar. Please consult with your IT organization for further details on how to implement these changes.
Start your emulator session as you normally would to sign into a CICS region, but do not enter any sign-on information,
Click on the Communication selection at the top of the screen, then from the drop-down box choose 'Configure'.
Choose the Session Parameters button.
A pop-up window should appear with a SCREEN SIZE field.
Confirm it says 43x80.
If it does, then click on the Cancel button which will return you to the Customize Communication window. Click on the Cancel button and you should be returned to your session. No further actions are necessary.
If the SCREEN SIZE field in step 4 does not say 43x80, then click on the drop-down arrow for the field and choose 43x80.
Click OK
This should take you back to the Customize Communication window.
Click OK again - a pop-up will appear saying: "communication will be terminated."
Click OK again - the session should reconnect and now you can continue into CICS.
