Be prepared when contacting us by viewing these helpful documents:
•  Provider authentication requirements for Medicare contractor provider telephone and written inquiries List item -- When contacting Medicare through the interactive voice response system (IVR), a customer service representative (CSR), or a written inquiry, providers must furnish three data elements for authentication: the national provider identifier (NPI), the provider transaction access number (PTAN), and the last five digits of the tax identification number (TIN).
