MPFS update and therapy exception process extended by new law

The Temporary Extension Act of 2010 extends the zero percent update to the Medicare physician fee schedule (MPFS) through March 31, 2010. It also extends the exception process for therapy claims reaching the annual cap through March 31, retroactive to January 1, 2010. Click here for more information.

Part A

Medicare Part A (hospital insurance) helps cover inpatient care in hospitals, including critical access hospitals and skilled nursing facilities (not custodial or long-term care). It also helps cover hospice care and some home health care.

Part B

Medicare Part B (medical insurance) helps cover doctors' services and outpatient care. It also covers some of the other medical services that Part A doesn't cover, such as some of the services of physical and occupational therapists and some home health care.
