Credit Balance Status tool instructions

Effective December 1, 2024, providers are no longer required to submit Credit Balance Reports (CMS-838) on a quarterly basis. You're still required to report self-identified overpayments, but you should only use a Credit Balance Report when they occur.

For submissions with a credit balance, please allow 10 business days, before checking status.

Steps / Help

  1. PTAN - Enter your PTAN (5-6 characters)
  2. Quarter end date – Select or key in the quarter END date in using MM/DD/YYYY format.
  3. Click Search.

Results

Each result will provide:

  • Plan (Part A or B)
  • Total credit balance amount
  • Received date
  • Status (open or closed)

Click Clear to conduct a new search.

If no results are found, please review your submission for errors. Make any corrections and refax your submission to 904-361-0359. If you are still unable to find results, please contact JNcreditbalanceinquiries@fcso.com.
