Glaucoma screening
Glaucoma screening is covered for all Medicare beneficiaries who fall into at least one of the following high-risk categories:
- Individuals with diabetes mellitus
- Individuals with a family history of glaucoma
- African Americans aged 50 and older
- Hispanic Americans aged 65 and older
HCPCS codes
- G0117 – By an optometrist or ophthalmologist
- G0118 – Under the direct supervision of an optometrist or ophthalmologist
Frequency
- Annually for all patients
Deductible and coinsurance are waived for this service.
