Ambulance services and drug codes

Medicare does not reimburse for drugs billed by ambulance suppliers. However, Medicare allows ambulance suppliers to bill drug codes for denial purposes to submit to other insurances. 

Drug pricing codes are based on the providers/suppliers billing address ZIP code. The pricing of ambulance transports and mileage codes are based on the ZIP code of the point of pickup. 

When the point of pickup and billing address ZIP codes are different, submit two separate claims. Submit one claim for the drug codes and one for the ambulance transport and mileage.
