Supplemental Medical Review Contractor

CMS contracts with Noridian Healthcare Solutions LLC, a Supplemental Medical Review Contractor (SMRC), to help lower improper payment rates and increase efficiencies of Medicare and Medicaid medical review.
The SMRC conducts medical review of Medicare Part A and B claims nationwide. The SMRC evaluates medical records to determine whether Medicare claims were billed in compliance with coverage, coding, payment, and billing practices.
The SMRC mails all additional document request (ADR) letters in green envelopes to assist with proper notification of review. Please notify your mail department of this change to allow SMRC requests to be received by the appropriate departments to be handled timely.
Have questions? Reach out to the SMRC Contractor at external link. They can assist with questions related to medical records requests, review status, and more.
Note: Please follow the specific instructions for submitting requested medical records and documentation provided with your SMRC letter.
First Coast Service Options (First Coast) strives to ensure that the information available on our provider website is accurate, detailed, and current.
