Preventive services

Introduction
Preventive services or preventive benefits refer to medical services and screenings that are designed to assist in the prevention and early detection of disease. Since many common diseases are preventable through immunization or may be successfully addressed through early detection, treatment, and patient lifestyle changes, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) encourages providers to advise their Medicare patients to take full advantage of preventive services and screenings for which they are eligible.
