Q: When will ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS be implemented?
A: The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced, per the Federal Register issued on January 16, 2009, that the compliance date for implementation of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS into the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) mandated code set is October 1, 2013.
