How to find 2009 Florida fee schedules for your locality

As a Medicare health care provider, you know the importance of having the most current information at your fingertips, especially when that information relates to payments. For your convenience, First Coast Service Options Inc. (FCSO) has posted the 2009 Medicare Part B physician fee schedules (MPFS) for all Florida localities (03, 04, and 99 [01/02]).
Locality fee schedules are designed to advise physicians, nonphysician practitioners, and suppliers (whose payments are linked to fee schedules) of the payment amounts allowable for covered services paid from the MPFS. Locality fee schedules also inform nonparticipants how much they can legally charge when filing an unassigned claim.
FCSO offers providers the convenience of downloadable 2009 MPFSs in a portable document format (PDF):
• 2009 Medicare Part B physician fee schedule – Loc 99 (01/02) PDF format
• 2009 Medicare Part B physician fee schedule – Loc 04 PDF format
• 2009 Medicare Part B physician fee schedule – Loc 03 PDF format
In addition, for ease and speed in downloading, FCSO offers the following 2009 MPFSs in a compressed file format that will extract into PDF or unformatted text files, which can be imported into a spreadsheet or database.
• 2009 Medicare Part B physician fee schedule BOOKS compressed file: This compressed file extracts to 3 PDF files, and each contains a fee schedule reference guide for one specific locality in Florida. Each guide includes information about the locality’s geographic coverage area, fee schedule data and instructions, and a copy of the “Medicare Participating Physician or Supplier Agreement.”
• Loc 99 (01/02); 2009 Medicare Part B physician fee schedule compressed file: This compressed file extracts to 1 unformatted text file, which provides fee schedule information for locality 99 and is suitable for import into a spreadsheet or database.
• Loc 04; 2009 Medicare Part B physician fee schedule compressed file: This compressed file extracts to 1 unformatted text file, which provides fee schedule information for locality 04 and is suitable for import into a spreadsheet or database.
• Loc 03; 2009 Medicare Part B physician fee schedule compressed file: This compressed file extracts to 1 unformatted text file, which provides fee schedule information for locality 03 and is suitable for import into a spreadsheet or database.

Other MPFS resources available

In addition to the resources listed above, FCSO offers providers the option of an easy-to-use FCSO 2009 Part B Physician Fee Schedule lookup tool that includes fee information for most Medicare-covered procedure codes. To use this helpful tool, make your selection from a set of code lists, scroll to the code desired, press the "query fee" button, and the applicable fee(s) will be returned. An online 2009 interactive fee schedule help guide is available to assist you with your search.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Web site also offers a National physician fee schedule lookup tool. external link This searchable database provides national payment and policy information on services covered under the MPFS.
